Helping Hands monarch caterpillar

Nature Program

Everything around us is connected and small changes in the environment can play a big role in a species survival. Learn all about how plants, humans and a particular insect species can live harmoniously in a city by helping Molly the monarch caterpillar to navigate becoming a butterfly. 

Duration: 60 minutes

Capacity: 1 class; up to 30 students

MonarchWhat to expect: The final activity of this program is making seed balls. Seed balls are a mixture of clay, soil and milkweed seeds that when dried can be thrown or scattered to distribute seeds. We will supply all the materials needed for this activity and teachers can decide if the seed balls will be taken home with students, planted around the school or brought to the park on a future school trip.

This program is well suited for both indoor and outdoor spaces

Heritage Program

Many of the traditional ways we celebrate moments in life can be attributed back to the Victorian Era. Though the concept of handmade items may have become lost over time; there is nothing more heartfelt then receiving a gift made by someone. Learn about some of the traditions and celebrations that shaped today and make a small gift of your own.

Duration: 60 minutes

Capacity: 1 class; up to 30 students

What to expect: The final activity of this program is an art activity using paint where students will print gift wrap using brayers and block printing techniques. All the materials for this are supplied including washable, non-toxic paint.

This program is suited for indoor spaces where tables are available.
